VIBRATION (Calibrator, Controller, Hard Probe, Indicator, Sensor, Transmitter)

The HI 5700 Series Vibration Transmitters…

Model: WM-VIB-HRD-001
Simple, Yet Effective!
Our series of vibration transmitters allows you to monitor machinery vibration from your control computers. Programmable logic controllers and distributed control systems can easily monitor vibration with our transmitters, which provide a 4-20 mA analog signal accepted by these computers. All you need to do is mount the vibration transmitter to the machine, run the loop-powered twisted pair wire to the control computer, and let the plant operators monitor production machinery for excessive vibration. Some of the models even have two extra wires that allow access to the raw vibration signal for vibration analysis.

We offer three models of vibration transmitters, the HI 5701-VT1, HI 5701-VT3, and the HI 5703-ST:

Model: WM-VIB-HRD-002

The HI 5703-ST Stress Energy Transmitter works in a higher frequency range (5,000-60,000 Hz). Its applications include monitoring rolling element bearing degradation, pump cavitation, and gear tooth wear. The full-scale range of the HI 5703-VT is 0-10 SEL. An SEL is a unit representing "stress energy level." This unit describes the amplitude measurement of the transmitter instead of "g's" (gravity), since the measurement output does not reflect the linear operating range of the built-in accelerometer.

Model: WM-VIB-HRD-003

1) The HI 5701-VT1 is our most popular Vibration Transmitter because it addresses the most common problems associated with machinery vibration. It works in the low frequency band of 6-1,000 Hertz (360-60,000 rpm) and has a full-scale range of 0-1.0 ips (inch/sec). This transmitter is effective at picking up rotor or fan unbalance, shaft misalignment, mechanical looseness, and other vibration problems associated in the lower frequency range.

Model: WM-VIB-HRD-004

2) The HI 5701-VT3 has the same characteristics as the HI 5701-VT1, except that the full-scale range is 0-3 ips. Possible applications for this model are vibratory feeder machines in process manufacturing companies, and other plant machinery that experience higher vibration levels. If you have an application that falls into this level of vibration, please call us for further discussion.

Vibration Signal Conditioners

Model: WM-VIB-HRD-005

The HI 5500 series signal conditioners are DIN-rail mountable modules that provide a building-block approach to monitoring important machinery.

Vibration monitoring or rotating machinery has been practiced for many years in many industries and has proven to be a valuable approach to improving manufacturing operations. Some of the primary benefits are:

  • Increased production time
  • Increased product quality
  • Improved safety in the production environment
  • Reduced maintenance costs
  • Reduced energy costs
  • Reduced parts inventory

Accelerometers, Mounting Hardware, and Cables

Model: WM-VIB-HRD-006

Hardy Instruments offers a full line of industrial grade accelerometers for measuring vibration on typical plant machinery. These accelerometers are in stainless steel housings to withstand harsh environments. They are isolated from ground and are protected against RF noise by an inner shield. Typically, they have 2-pin MS style connectors, which adds to their ruggedness, and can be supplied with watertight mating connectors and cables.

The HI 5500 Series modules may be used to monitor motors, pumps, fans, chillers, mixers, gears, compressors, machine tools, and practically any rotating machinery. These modules serve the petroleum, chemical, power, pulp/paper, food/beverage, metal fabrication, transportation, and a number of other industries. The HI 5500 series of vibration signal conditioners are DIN rail mountable modules and provide a "building-block" approach to monitoring vibration on important machinery. Each signal conditioner has a 4-20 mA and 0-5Vdc output proportional to its full scale value. The outputs can be connected to most PLCs or DCS systems, providing continuous monitoring of machinery running condition. The modules also provide access to the buffered vibration signal at a BNC connector and terminal connectors. Measurement type, detection type, frequency range and full scale operating range are selected by the user. Additionally, there are set point modules and relay modules that can be configured to light an annunciator or trip machinery when operating conditions exceed preset levels. The set point modules and relay modules can be used with a single signal conditioner or with groups of signal conditioners, providing a cost-effective approach to creating a monitoring system.

DESCRIPTION
The HI 5701 Vibration Transmitter is a Loop Powered Sensor that provides a 4-20 mA signal directly proportional to the overall vibration level of the equipment. The HI 5701VT design uses True RMS (Root Mean Square) vibration measurement. The benefit of True RMS is that the highest level of measurement accuracy is guaranteed over a wide range of vibration forms. By integrating state of- the-art electronics into a solid stainless steel design, the HI 5701VT provides accurate vibration output in the most rugged applications, including chemical duty and explosion proof areas. With a frequency range of 6-2,000 Hz, the HI 5701VT Vibration Transmitter is extremely effective at picking up such machinery issues as unbalance, shaft misalignment, and mechanical looseness.
INTEGRATED SOLUTION
With the sensor and electronics integrated into one compact design, the Vibration Transmitter provides an easy-to-install solution with the minimum level of wiring requirements. No need for an accelerometer,
a signal conditioner, and additional panel space. This design saves you time and money.

FLEXIBLE SOLUTION
The HI 5701VT also incorporates two extra wires and a connector for access to the dynamic vibration signal. By plugging into this dynamic output with a data collector, you can access the full vibration spectrum and perform a diagnostic analysis. Thus, the Vibration Transmitter provides both overall and spectrum analysis capabilities.

Vibration Around Your Scales? Not a Problem with

Model: WM-VIB-HRD-007

WAVERSAVER®! Machinery such as motors, mixers, blenders, vibrators, conveyors, or even driving forklifts around your scales are necessary to process materials, but each of them can introduce a unique vibratory force to the scale.

Vibration on and around scales in process control causes fluctuating weight displays and inaccurate batch weights. Our exclusive WAVERSAVER® technology quickly ignores unwanted vibration signals. No need to shut down everything while you weigh! WAVERSAVER® also improves batch quality and eliminates wasted product. You don't even have to reset the instrument if vibration levels change from time to time.

  How does WAVERSAVER® work?
  • A weight placed on a scale produces a virtually straight line with zero slope over time.
  • Filling a material onto the scale at a constant rate (gain-in-weight) provides a line with a positive slope over time.
  • Dispensing a material off of the scale at a constant rate (loss-in-weight) provides a line with a negative slope.
  • A vibration presents a force on the scale that has a primary frequency with many harmonic frequencies.

WAVERSAVER® is able to quickly differentiate these signals and eliminate the effects of the vibration to provide a stable and true weight display.

This year, WAVERSAVER® is celebrating 10 years of 'often copied but never surpassed' technology that successfully overcomes plant vibration.
